Three reasons these sunglasses will be your new favorite accessory

What’s an accessory that goes with every outfit, is appropriate at any event or occasion, and fits with every style? I’ll give you a hint, they’re worn on your face, shield your eyes from harsh UV rays, and come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and color combinations, so you can always find your perfect pair.

If you haven’t yet guessed it, I’m talking about sunglasses.

Quality, price, and design—can you have them all?

Walk into any fashion (or convenience) store and you’re sure to find a rack full of sunglasses somewhere. Accessibility isn’t really an issue, but design, quality, and price certainly are. Often, sunglasses have two out of the three attributes. A to-die-for design and excellent quality, but they’ll cost you an arm and a leg. Or decent design and adequate price, but the quality screams ‘temporary’. I mean, there has to be a pair of sunglasses out there that checks off all three, right, in a world as vast as ours?

I recently heard about this Danish sunglasses startup called MessyWeekend. This young brand is only three years old, but they have accomplished quite a bit in that period of time, including expanding their product line to include ski goggles, blue light filter glasses, and snow accessories. But I’m here to talk sunnies, and boy, did I find the most amazing pair.

The must-have pair

I’d like to introduce you to NEW DEPP Champagne. This round model is beautifully crafted from translucent yellow acetate, contrasted by its vibrant green lenses. The thin yet sturdy frame is lightweight and offers a comfortable feel and fit. The look is more subtle compared to the other color variants, but I think it’s the classiest of the NEW DEPP line up. It adds a nice pop of color without being too loud. So, when it comes to design, I’m a big fan. But, what about quality and price?

NEW DEPP Champagne is handcrafted using high-quality acetate. There are almost 200 steps in the production of these sunglasses, a manual process that can take somewhere between six and eight weeks to complete. Each pair is assembled using nickel- and lead-free hinges (very important considering you don’t those metals on or around your face) and feature shatterproof lenses with full UV400 protection.

These beautifully designed, high-quality sunglasses cost only €85—a price well below similar models from brands.

Support their environmental initiative

Beautiful design? Check. High quality? Check. Fair price? Check! But there is actually something else to consider when purchasing, well, anything. How do the brands you support look beyond business? Nowadays, there are numerous brands that give back to their communities in a variety of ways, and MessyWeekend is one such brand. For each product sold, they donate part of the revenue to their partner NGO Plastic Change, which works with ReSea Project to facilitate the clean up of the equivalent of 5 plastic bottles / 100 straws / 10 plastic bags from our oceans! I love a brand that goes above and beyond what is expected of them, as do most of their Trustpilot reviewers, who gave MessyWeekend 4.7 out of 5 stars. Very impressive for a small startup!
