Why Messyweekend’s first ever apparel collection is a must-have

We’re in for a cold (and dark) winter season folks. With energy prices skyrocketing and the many governments putting a cap on the temperature in all public buildings, there’s never been more of a need to rug up. Time to pull out those extra jumpers and layer up to keep warm. Perhaps best known for its affordable quality eyewear, MessyWeekend has just launched its first basic apparel collection designed for those cold winter days.

The collection is MessyWeekend’s take on basic/everyday clothes, and much like their sunglasses, they don’t compromise on quality and design. The collection consists of a relaxed-fit super soft hoodie with a drawstring hood, available in black and melange grey; a fleece-lined sweatshirt with a ribbed high-neck that elevates what would otherwise be a basic sweatshirt, available in black, grey and army. And finally a t-shirt in 100% cotton available in black, white and army. Four classic colours to fit every wardrobe. All the apparel is unisex and features the MW*JP logo stitched on the lower left side.

A logo inspired by Japan

“The inspiration for the collection, and the MW*JP logo in particular actually came from Japan” says Marc, CEO and Co-Founder of MessyWeekend.

“This logo is essentially a tribute to our old and new Japanese friends, who not only carried us through the pandemic, but have also been a key market for us since our launch back in 2018. Japan and Denmark aren’t so unalike as one might first think – design wise we share a great deal of overlap (you’ve maybe heard of the “Japandi” trend that is all the rage) with clean, minimalist designs at its core. Other than that, we think the Japanese characters just look freaking sick! It actually reads ‘WEEKEND’ in Katakana characters”.

We absolutely love the logo that is both clean and minimalistic, but adds a little oomph to a collection of basic wear. Both the sweatshirt and hoodie have a relaxed- fit and are made from 80% cotton & 20% brushed fleece on the inside, which makes them incredibly soft and extra warm (a huge plus for this winter). The sweatshirt is priced at €70 and the hoodie at €85. The t-shirt is made of 100% cotton and priced at €40. The whole collection is designed in Copenhagen, Denmark and produced in Turkey.

Shop the collection both online and in their flagship Copenhagen store at Nikolaj Plads 26.
